What a busy day today. I spent the early part of today with my wife and stepson. And during the evening when most of the boys over at MMG come online, I came on to check up on things. 2007 mod is progressing superbly, with only 2-3 beta builds left before public release of version 1.0 full mod.
Chatted a bit with MMG Modeller Raymond Schram who is the 2007 Season Director. What does that mean? Well because MMG is a large group with over 160 members now, I cannot keep track of everyone on my own, so what I do is instigate a Season Director for each mod, who keeps me informed of all the happenings withing the mod and the progress. If I feel something should be different or should be changed, then I let the Season Director know and that person will make sure the changes are done. Raymond and I have a nice chat.
After that I spent the following hours talking to admins from the leagues that have become MMG Certified leagues. I brought them into MMG and gave them the chance to beta test the v2.3.0 beta which is available for staff members. This took quite some time to get through the terms and conditions of joining and being apart of the group. Leagues get a lot more from MMG then what is commonly expected, and this is done to ensure we can support the leagues that run our mods to the fullest.
Spending the time to discuss with the league admins and get them introduced into the team, I then spent time speaking with the administrator of Racestart F1 Website. Racestart and MMG have a collaboration in which the Racestart F1 website use the MMG 2007 mod with a special MMG-Racestart livery to bring live onboard broadcasts of each grand prix circuit following the real life GP Schedule reports. Fixing the necessary FTP's and checking up on files things were pretty well covered after about an hour and a half.
I then spent time with a friend who is also creating a mod for rfactor in which MMG will be helping to create the physics for the mod.
I'm also waiting for Antonio (sound creator for 1991 mod) to acquire internet in his new home so I can acquire the new sound files for the demo so that can get released to the public.
I was also able to hire a new member to the group known as Peter, who is the creator of the 1982 F1 models. It will be good to see how things go as time progress, for now however we're looking at what we wish to create together.
Another thing I've done is PM'd carrera.4 on RSC to see if he would like to join MMG. As I see it, my goal is to unite modders who share a common goal to create the utmost best mods/games for the community. Carrera.4 is a passionate, dedicated and well talented modder, and seeing as we both share a common goal, which is to create great F1 mods, I was hoping he would consider joining MMG to work together on our grand project of 1950 - 2008 and beyond mod. Hopefully I'll have good news from him. It would be great to have yet another experienced modder amongst the group to create more stunning mods.
Now some people ask why I hire more people into more departments. Well, the more people we have, the more work that gets done. Maybe not on one specific mod, but where would have 20 people working on one mod to be released one per year, we have over 100 people working on multiple mods where we work to release as many as we can per year. It saves time in creating all these seasons and brings our dream closer and closer.
The beta testing for the v2.3.0 closed beta of the 2007 mod is also going great, beta testers are loving it, only two so far out of the 150+ who have tried it don't like the physics, as they feel they are too grippy, but according to everyone else including some real life racing drivers, we have pretty much nailed the physics. My hope is that the community will feel the same also.
Well this is enough for todays post. Tune in tomorrow for more news. :)
